| DoD Directive 1344.3, "Paternity Claims and Adoption Proceedings Involving Members and Former Members of the Armed Forces" | ||||||||||||||
This Directive reissues DoD Directive 1344.3, November 19, 1966 to standardize procedures for the handling of: a. Paternity claims against members and former members of the Armed Forces, and, b. Requests from civilian courts concerning the availability of members and former members of the Armed Forces to appear at an adoption hearing where it is alleged that such member is the father of an illegitimate child. Reference DoD Directive 1344.3, November 19, 1966 is hereby superseded and canceled. Note: This Regulation is available in both PDF File Format and ASCII Format. While ASCII will load faster, it will not contain tables and photos which may be available in the original document. If you choose the PDF Format, you must first download and install the FREE PDF Viewer Program from Adobe Software. Depending on your Internet connection speed, large regulation files may take several minutes to download before they can be viewed. Note: On 1 October (2003), DOD Directives were placed behind a "firewall," that restricts access only to those using a government (.gov) or military (.mil) computer system. You must be on a .gov or .mil domain to view this publication. I don't know if this is a permament change, or temporary.
