U.S. "Secret Warriors" Supplying Afghan Rebels: WASHINGTON (AP) -- Afghan rebels receive U.S. military supplies by donkey and mule and ride on horseback into combat against Taliban tanks. This is the kind of war American commandos inside Afghanistan are a part of as they work alongside northern alliance and other Afghan rebels they hope will help topple the ruling Taliban militia. Small teams of U.S. special forces, totaling about 100 in at least four locations, are bringing to the rebels weapons, ammunition, food, water, blankets, winter uniforms and even food for the opposition' s horses. " They' re taking the war to their enemy and ours, " Gen. Peter Pace said Wednesday of northern alliance forces fighting the Taliban. |
