War Stories: The Library of Congress today will unveil details of an ambitious history project aimed at documenting the experiences of the nation's 19 million war veterans through oral histories, diaries, photographs and letters. The project, authorized by Congress and signed into law by President Clinton last year, directs the library's American Folklife Center to identify living American veterans of all military conflicts from World War I to the present day and to collect all possible records of their service to the nation.
