ARMY TRAVELERS ASSISTANCE CENTER
The Army Travelers Assistance Center (ATAC), an element of the PERSCOM DCSOPS, is responsible for providing
guidance, command and control, and emergency, administrative and logistical support for soldiers and family members
traveling on official orders enroute to and from overseas.
The ATAC can assist in solving most common problems encountered by Army-sponsored travelers while in a travel status.
Specifically, the ATAC handles actions that can be accomplished by telephone and fax such as:
a. Requests for leave extensions
b. Arranging or changing portcalls
c. Resolving some passport and visa problems
d. Arranging next of kin overseas travel under invitational travel orders.
Based on an evaluation of data collected over the last year, the ATACs hours of operation have been changed. The
ATAC is now staffed Monday - Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern Time. There will be absolutely no degradation
in the level or quality of service being provided to soldiers and their families. In the event of an emergency
requiring the immediate assistance of the ATAC duty NCO, the caller should listen closely and follow the instructions
on the automated answering system. All emergency calls will be screened and returned within one hour.
Travel Tips:
a. All travelers should reconfirm their flight arrangements no later than 72 hours prior to departure. Air Mobility
Command (AMC) flights can be confirmed Monday - Friday between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time by calling 1 (800)
851-3144.
b. All travelers should have sufficient funds to defray any cost associated with unforeseeable travel difficulties.
The ATAC cannot provide such assistance.
c. If you experience commercial transportation delays or cancellations, attempt to get a statement from the carrier
explaining the cause of the delay.
d. Weekend arrival travel restrictions remain in effect for travel to both Germany and Korea. Soldiers on PCS orders
to Korea will be scheduled to arrive Sunday through Thursday. Soldiers on assignment to all USAREUR units in Germany
must be scheduled to arrive in Frankfurt Monday through Friday. Check with your local transportation office for
additional information.
e. Personnel on funded emergency leave should contact the AMC at the earliest opportunity to arrange return travel.
