Duties:
Provides technical guidance to commanders and staff of activities with
the mission of conducting/receiving airborne and/or airdrop operations.
Supervises inspection of parachutes and parachute components to detect
flaws in materials and workmanship. Supervises packing of parachutes.
Ensures that unserviceable, non repairable, and overage parachutes are
retired from inventory. Supervises airdrop rigging activities and airdrop
equipment maintenance activities. Maintains compliance standards and criteria
for life support systems and other airdrop equipment.
Minimum
prerequisites:
- Be a SSG
or above
- Minimum
of eight years most recent experience in MOS 92R
- BNCOC
or ANCOC graduate in MOS 92R
- Have documented
a minimum of two years experience supervising operations in a packing
shed, repair shop, cargo airdrop facility or storage warehouse.
- Jump master
qualified and completed the Airdrop Load Inspectors Course
- Provide
a hard (paper) copy of four NCOER’s which reflect recent outstanding
and exceptional duty performance ratings in MOS 92R. Copy of four NCOER’s
must be provided even if already on service member's fiche.
- Due to
the low density and the single annual certification, a significant amount
of accession qualifications is placed on enlisted training in MOS 92R,
field experience and peer recommendations. Therefore, this specialty
is closed for transition of officers.
- Have
completed a minimum of six credit hours of college level English. (Successful
completion of the English College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is
the only acceptable substitute). Speech is not considered an English
substitute. No waivers for the above prerequisites will be favorably
considered.
Preferred
qualifications (Minimum plus):
- Applicants
exceeding 12 years Active Federal Service (AFS) must be approved by
HQDA.
- Where
applicable, it is strongly encouraged that each applicant (especially
those with less than 7 years service) enclose a letter of recommendation
from a senior Airdrop Systems Technician.
