C5 Court Reporter

a. Description of positions. Identifies positions in staff and command judge advocate sections, legal/mobilization services organizations, and court-martial trial teams (JAGSO) requiring soldiers qualified to record and prepare verbatim transcripts of the testimony, arguments, and activities of courts-martial, and administrative and other boards.

b. Qualifications. Soldiers must have:

(1) A minimum typing speed of 40 net words-per-minute.

(2) Twelfth grade level in English reading comprehension and com position.

(3) Mandatory formal training. Completion of court reporter course of instruction conducted at the Naval Justice School.

(4) Certification of Staff Judge Advocate (JAGSO Commander) as being fully qualified to perform duties as court reporter.

c. Restrictions. For use with MOS 710 (skill level 2 and above) only.
