Major duties. The Special Band Member performs as a musician or in direct support of the mission of The U.S. Army Band, U.S. Army Field Band, U.S. Military Academy Band, or the 3rd Infantry (The Old Guard) Fife and Drum Corps. Use of skill 42S is restricted to the special bands only. Note: Band is a special enlistment program. Applicants must pass a very rigorous audition process to enlist in the Army Band specialty. See also MOS 42R.
(1) Skill Level 2. Performs as instrumentalist or vocalist in field music detachment of special band, or as technician in special band support activities.
