21T - - TECHNICAL ENGINEERING SPECIALIST

Note: The Army recently restructured this MOS from 51T to 21T.

Major duties. The technical engineering specialist supervises or participates in construction site development to include technical investigation, surveying, drafting, development of construction plans and specifications and performing quality control inspections.

    (1) Skill Level 1. Assists in the performance of field and laboratory tests on construction materials, construction surveys, and drafting for military construction.

    (2) Skill Level 2. Performs field and laboratory testing on construction materials, construction surveys and design drafting for military construction.

    (3) Skill Level 3. Supervises technical engineering activities relating to construction surveying, drafting, and testing of construction materials. Compiles technical information and supervises subordinate personnel.

    (4) Skill Level 4. Plans, directs, inspects, and performs technical site development activities. Supervises duties performed by subordinate personnel.

Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of MOS. Technical engineering supervisors must possess the following qualifications:

    (1) physical demands rating, of heavy.

    (2) A physical profile, code of 221211.

    (3) Normal color vision,

    (4) A minimum score, of 95 in aptitude area ST.

    (5) Have credit for two years of high school mathematics, to include algebra and 1 year of general science.

    (6) Formal training (completion of MOS 21T course conducted under the auspices of the USA Engineer School) is mandatory.

Additional skill identifiers

    (1) C7--Survey Instrument Repairer.

    (2) PS--Master Fitness Trainer.

    (3) 25--Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 and above).

    (4) 4A--Reclassification Training.
