21G - - Quarrying Specialist

Note: The Army recently restructured this MOS from 62G to 21G.

Major duties. The quarrying specialist supervises or operates electric, pneumatic, and internal combustion powered machines used in drilling, crushing, grading, and cleaning gravel and rock, or detonates explosives to blast rock in quarries and at construction sites.

    (1) Skill Level 1. Operates rock drills under supervision. Assembles, adjusts and operates crushing, screening, conveying, and washing units. Assists in blasting operations. Assists in performance of combat engineer missions.

    (2) Skill Level 2. Directs the erection of rock processing equipment. Determines screen sizes and crusher settings to produce aggregate to specifications. Directs quarry rock excavation to produce required sizes and tonnage of rock. Performs as blaster.

    (3) Skill Level 3. Conducts and plans quarry reconnaissance and plant layout. Supervises the setup and calibration of a rock processing plant. Plans and supervises blasting operations. Supervises rock production operations. Directs combat engineering missions.

    (1) P5--Master Fitness Trainer.

    (2) 2S--Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 and above).

    (3) 4A--Reclassification Training.
