Mission:
USARPAC provides trained and ready forces in support of military operations and peacetime engagements in the Asia-Pacific area of operations, to provide crisis response and contribute to regional stability. USARPAC carries out a cooperative-engagement strategy known as the Expanded Relations Program with 41 nations within or bordering its area of responsibility. These countries include the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Mongolia, Russia, China, India, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand, the Marshall Islands and Papua New Guinea.
Recent deployments: Army forces in the Pacific are part of the Multinational Force and Observers mission in Sinai and Operation Joint Guard, and units in the past year have deployed in support of disaster-relief operations and other humanitarian and civic actions throughout the Pacific region. On an average day in 1998, some 2,328 USARPAC soldiers and Department of the Army civilians were deployed to 24 nations on 34 missions, with more than 150 serving in other than the Asia-Pacific area of operations.
