1.  References:  BCT POI 21-114; FM 23-9; USAARMC 385-22

2.  It will take the company 30 minutes to march to Forrest Hill Range.

3.  Privates who need to zero will arrive with the ammo drop and zero prior to the start of the class (coordinate directly with range personnel ahead of time).

4.  Privates will ground their rucks and enter the bleachers for class upon arrival.

5.  Cadre will attend a safety briefing by 3-81 at the target shack.

6.  Privates and cadre will walk up and down range to gain downrange feedback from the paper targets, marking scorecards and putting pasters over the holes.  There are no refires.

7.  If there is strong wind or rain, request pop up targets from 3-81, however, any changes to target array or procedures must be approved by the battalion commander.

Note: These Operating Instructions were derived from a set of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for a United States Army Infantry Basic Training Battalion. While SOPs might differ somewhat from batallion to batallion, it should give a basic idea of the instructions that Drill Sergeants and basic training staff members operate under.
