Basic Training Operating Instructions

Weapons Training - Recoiless Rifle

1.  References:  BCT POI 21-114; FM 23-9 and 23-11, TRADOC PAM 600-4

2.  RM 2 and 3 are conducted at Libby Hall, Building 6574 (RM 1 is conducted by the company at platoon level).

3.  Coordinate for additional Weaponeer use NLT T-7 with a memo through battalion S3 to 3-81’s S3.  Request to use the weaponeer during RM 2 after the privates have achieved the standard, and after RM 5 (Zero - Canby Range) and RM 6 (Forest Hill - Down Range Feedback) from 1900-2030.

4.  Privates will wear Kevlar with LBE and ruck sack.:

            a.  Privates will ground their ruck sacks by platoon upon arrival (requires practice).

            b.  Privates will also bring their soft cap to wear during lunch.

            c.  Cadre will wear campaign hat or soft cap.

5.  Coordinate for sack lunches.

6.  The duty platoon sergeant will identify which drill sergeants will man which stations prior to training.  There are usually six stations.

7.  Privates will rotate through these stations until they have achieved the standard.

            a.  Drill sergeants will identify privates who have achieved the standard.

            b.  Those privates achieving the standard may begin on the Weaponeer during RM2 after all privates have rotated through all the stations.

            c.  Those privates requiring additional training will receive reinforcement training while the rest of the privates use the Weaponeer, until they achieve the standard.

While SOPs might differ somewhat from batallion to batallion, it should give a basic idea of the instructions that Drill Sergeants and basic training staff members operate under.
