United States Army
Basic Training Operating Instructions

Post Detail

1.  Normally, one or two days before EOCT, the company will perform Post Detail.

2.  On this day, organizations from Ft Knox will come to the company to request assistance from our soldiers to better Ft Knox.  However, this resource is often underutilized (especially if it is a holiday) providing an excellent opportunity for EOCT reinforcement training.

3.  Any organization may borrow our soldiers for these details.

4.  All organizations wishing to use our soldiers for Post Detail must:

            a.  Complete two copies of the risk assessment, leaving one with us and keeping the other with them.

            b.  Sign for the soldiers at the company and return them prior to the next meal.

            c.  After the meal is completed, organizations may re-sign for soldiers following the same procedures.

5.  Those individuals signing for our soldiers are responsible for their health, welfare and accountability while they are with them and must conduct a safety briefing prior to conducting any detail.

Note: These Operating Instructions were derived from a set of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for a United States Army Infantry Basic Training Battalion. While SOPs might differ somewhat from batallion to batallion, it should give a basic idea of the instructions that Drill Sergeants and basic training staff members operate under.
