The Surgery Utilization Field covers the functions of program formulation, policy planning, direction, and professional participation pertinent to maintenance and improvement of health standards and aerospace medicine. Included in this field are the areas of anesthesiology, orthopedic, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, otorhinolaryngology, physical medicine, surgery, and urology. Officers in this field command medical installations, units, or activities as stated in AFR 51- 604, Appointments to, and Assumption of, Command.
