Push-ups are done in a one-minute time-period. Originally, the Air Force had planned on a two-minute test requirement, but in voluntary testing conducted the past two years, only about 60 percent of Air Force members could pass the two-minute standards. As a result, the Air Force has decided on a one-minute test standard.

The number of repetitions are counted during one minute, and the componant points awarded according to the chart below.

Push-ups are just one part of the Air Force's total fitness test program. Push-ups make up 10 percent of the total fitness composite score. The other three parts of the program consist of:
