The Aerobic Fitness componant points are derived from a one and one-half mile timed run, or the Air Force Ergo-Cycle Test.

The only people who are allowed to do the Ergo-Cycle test are those who are medically excused from running. "Medically Excused" means a medical profile, prohibiting running, issued by a military doctor.

Aerobic Fitness is one part of the Air Force's total fitness test program. Aerobic Fitness makes up 50 percent of the total fitness composite points. The other three parts of the program consist of:
