The pay table incorporates a minimum 5 percent raise (for officers) and 6 percent raise (for enlisted), as well as a targeted pay raise aimed at mid-level NCOs and officers. The raise has already been approved by both the House and the Senate and should take effect on January 1, 2002, assuming that Congress passes the FY2002 Defense Appropriations Bill (and the President signs the bill into law) before that date.
