Jane says, "Okay," and puts the joint out. She thinks to herself, "Using drugs is pretty stupid. As long as Joe is going to stop, I might as well stop, myself." Jane drops you off at the recruiting station, where Sergeant Gooddeal is waiting with a plastic cup in his hand. "I hope you studied for your urinalysis test," he smiles. "We do a "quick-test" just to make sure there won't be any problems when you report for basic. If you come up positive at boot camp, you're discharged, with no chance to try again, so it's better that we make sure." Boy, are you ever glad you resisted that temptation! You take the test, and of course, you pass with flying colors. "I knew we wouldn't have a problem with you," Sergeant Gooddeal says happily. You get into his car, and Sergeant Gooddeal drives you to the MEPS. You line up with five other men and women while a NCO briefs you about the trip to boot camp. Finally, the NCO says, "Joe!" You say, "Yes!" The NCO says, "Joe, you're the oldest of the group, so you are going to be "troop leader" for the trip to boot camp. We're going to put you all on a plane, but there is a plane change and a one hour delay at Denver. It's your job to make sure everyone in your troop gets to the final destination. Do you understand?" "Um, I guess so," you reply. Handing you a large envelope, the NCO says, "You'll give this to the person at the Military Information Counter at Boondock Airport." Turning to the others, he says, "Joe's the 'troop leader.' That means he's in charge." As you're getting ready to board the van to the airport, the big kid in front of you turns around and says "troop leader this, you geek." You:
