How to Locate Airmen

Know someone in the U.S. Air Force, but don't know where they are? Here's how you can find them:

Difficulty Level: Easy      Time Required: 5 Minutes

Here's How:
  1. You will need the airman's full name and social security number, or full name and service dates
  2. Call the Air Force World Wide Locator at (210) 565-2660. Their hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 AM (CST).
  3. Written requests can be sent to: Air Force Worldwide Locator, 550C Street West Suite 50, Randolph AFB TX 78150-4752.
  4. This service is free to active duty, retired, and family members. Others may have to pay a small fee.

Tips:

  1. The locator cannot release information on retired personnel, but will forward a letter to them for a $3.50 fee.
  2. If you know what base the airman is stationed at, you can often get their phone number by calling the "locator" on that Base. Telephone Information can connect you to the base operator.
