If you're looking for a complete Global Positioning
System (GPS) for automobile travel that will work with your laptop or
handheld PC, then look no further. You won't find a system with as many
features, for the price, than TravRoute's CoPilot. I've owned CoPilot
for a couple of years, and used it to travel extensively across the United
States, and I've been nothing but pleased. The system requires almost
no learning to use. All you need to do (after installing the software)
is plug in the GPS device (USB, Serial, and Pocket PC versions are all
available), put the GPS on your dashboard, input a destination address,
and TravRoute's award-winning "Door-to-Door" software will compute
your route and give you directions. The two-way voice feature will accept
voice commands for many functions, and verbally instruct you on where
to turn at any point during your trip. If you miss a turn, or purposely
take another route to avoid delays or construction, the software automatically
recalculates the best route to get you to your final destination.
The PC version requires a 233 MHz processor or faster, a 4X CD-ROM (24x
recommended), 32 MB of RAM (64 MB RAM recommended), and 110 MB of available
hard disk space. While the system will operate with 32 MB of RAM, more
RAM is highly recommended. At 32 MB the system becomes sluggish, and can
cause you to miss your turns (this happened to me). However, with 64 MB
of RAM, the system works just fine.
