Legoland California is honoring U.S. Military members and their families by offering a free ticket with the purchase of three regular admission tickets when purchased at base tickets and tours offices.

Military members can take advantage of Legoland's 50 interactive rides, attractions, shows, events, dining facilities, gift shops, clubs and sports center.

The park, first opened in 1999, is geared for children 2-12 years old but has plenty of attractions and entertainment for adults as well.

"This park is great. We're having a great time, and it's good for the kids," said Navy Lt. Keith Atkins, Fort Harrison, Mont., after he and his son, Colby, enjoyed a ride on the Bionicle Blaster.

The Blaster consists of 12 individual circular cars spinning counter clock-wise.

Three roller coasters - the Lego Technic Coaster, the Dragon, and the Spell Breaker are among the 50 rides the park has to offer.

Many visitors enjoy the Lego Technic Coaster at Legoland. It's the fastest ride in the park, topping out at a speed of 26 miles per hour. Lego-shaped vehicles let riders experience acceleration, breaking and maneuverability on the coaster.

Legoland offers the Model Mom's Club. The club offers a unique type of support group for parents to discuss with each other along with specialists how to best deal with the duties of raising children.

"Children represent a great challenge and opportunity in the lives of parents and guardians. The Lego Company has been a long time partner with parents in child development," said Bill Haviluk, general manager and president, Legoland California.

Park patrons can also enjoy a variety of shows throughout the park. The Big Test Show is one of the more popular shows. Located in Fun Town, the show opened in the spring of 1999, and features skilled acrobats, a working fire truck and lessons in fire safety.

Legoland also features 5,000 models crafted of more than 30 million lego bricks.
