Initial Training Overview:
Training for this MOS consists of nine weeks of basic training, plus 15 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. However, brand new recruits cannot attend this course. One must have two years active duty, plus six months experience as military or civilian police.

Restrictions:
During Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), the Army limits a soldier's personal freedom, using a "Phase System," which grants increased freedom, based upon phase of training. For details, see Army Training Phase Restrictions.
Training Details:
Trains enlisted personnel to the level of probationary CID special agents in the subjects of criminal law, crime scene processing, testimonial evidence, investigations of crimes against persons and property, physical evidence, drug investigation, fraud and waste, investigative reports, special investigative techniques, protective services, and the provisions of CIDR 195-1. Other topics include: Investigating criminal activities and activities related to espionage, treason and terrorism, interviewing witnesses and questioning suspects, sometimes using polygraph machines (lie detectors), guarding correctional facilities, conducting searches of inmates, cells and vehicles, and performing fire and riot control duties.
