Initial Training Overview: Training for this MOS consists of nine weeks of Basic Training, followed by 13 weeks, one day of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Mead, Maryland, including practice in preparing graphic designs and illustrations. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.

Restrictions: During Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), the Army limits a soldier's personal freedom, using a "Phase System," which grants increased freedom, based upon phase of training. For details, see Army Training Phase Restrictions.
Training Details: Training includes principles of design and layout; fundamentals of color theory; fundamentals of drawing, color media; perspective; fundamentals of lettering; printing reproduction; electronic imaging systems; graphic design; image editing; desktop publishing; multimedia and telecommunications software; image scanners; digitizing devices; output to black and white and color printers; film and video recorders; plotters; image/data transmission; archiving data/image files; computer management; ethics; visual communications;combat/field graphics; customer relations; and operator maintenance.
