Army Training - - MOS 21K - - Plumber

Initial Training Overview:
Job training for this MOS consists of nine weeks of Basic Training, plus five weeks one day of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), conducted at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas.

Restrictions:
During Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), the Army limits a soldier's personal freedom, using a "Phase System," which grants increased freedom, based upon phase of training. For details, see Army Training Phase Restrictions.
Training Details:
The MOS specific training included material take off list, cutting and joining steel, cast iron, copper and plastic pipes. Installing and testing basic plumbing systems, clearing plumbing stoppages, repair valve fixture control devices; the repair, replacement and retrieval of pipeline and pumping component. Other areas covered include: Reading and interpreting drawings, plans and specifications, planning layouts of pipe systems using blueprints and drawings, bending, cutting and threading pipes made of lead, copper and plastic, installing connectors, fittings and joints, soldering or brazing pipe and tubing to join them, installing sinks, toilets and other plumbing fixtures, troubleshooting, testing and calibrating hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and keeping accurate records of tasks completed and materials used.
