Initial Training Overview: Job training for a Heavy Construction Equipment Operator consists of nine weeks of Basic Training and 4 to 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. Exact length of training depends on specific construction equipment at first duty assignment.

Training Details: Course includes instruction on camouflage, demolitions, mine/countermine, field fortifications, rigging, hardware oriented training on preventive maintenance and safe operation of drilling, blasting and rock processing equipment. Field training exercise. Other areas covered include: Operating rock drills under supervision, assembling, adjusting and operating crushing, screening, conveying and washing units, assisting in blasting operations, and assisting in the performance of combat engineer missions.
