How To Compute Your AF Promotion Points

Air Force enlisted personnel competing for promotion to grades above E-4 are awarded promotion points, known as WAPS points. Here's how to compute your promotion points in the Air Force

Time Required: 15 Minutes

Here's How:

  1. If you're competing for promotion to E-5 through E-7, give yourself 1/6 point for each month of active military service, for a maximum of 40 points.
  2. If you're competing for promotion to E-5 through E-7, give yourself 1/2 point for each month time in grade, up to a maximum of 60 points.
  3. Give yourself points for your medals and decorations (up to 25 points) as follows: MOH-15, DSC-11, DDSM-9, DSS-9, SS-9, LOM-7, DSSM-7, DFC-7, BS-5, MSM-5, PH-5, AAM-3, CM-3, AM-1.
  4. Use the EPR computation chart (below) to compute the point value of your Enlisted Performance Reports (Maximum of 135 points)

Tips:

  1. The cut-off for computation is at the END of the promotion cycle.
