Air Force Organizational Structure I'm often asked what the elements of command are for the U.S. Air Force. While this can change somewhat based upon the type of unit, the basic elements for the Air Force can be found here. Army College First Enlistment Program The Army offers a unique enlistment incentive called 'Army College First,' that allows college students to enlist in the Army in the Delayed Enlistment Program (DEP), continue with their college education, receive a monthly stipend from the Army, then enter the Army as an E-4. Preparing for Air Force Basic Training Here is a workout schedule that will prepare you for the rigors of basic training and help you to get the most out of it. Preparing for Air Force Basic Training The physical conditioning (PC) program ensure you are physically capable of enduring the demands of military duty. Additionally, the Air Force (AF) is very concerned about keeping you healthy by ensuring you show and develop true fitness gains from the beginning to the end of Basic Military Training (BMT). Preparing for Air Force Basic Training In 1938, Liberty Magazine sponsored a song contest for an official song of the Army Air Corps. Robert Crawford won the competition with his song titled "What do you think of the Air Corps Now?." The title was changed to "The Air Force Song" when the Air Force became a separate branch of the military in 1947. Preparing for Air Force Basic Training Air Force Education and Training Command implemented even tougher standards for basic training and technical school, effective in October 2003. It is no longer advisable to show up at Air Force Basic Military Training out of shape, as recruits have only six weeks (including the inprocessing week) before they must be able to pass the new standards. Preparing for Air Force Basic Training Whoever you are and wherever you fit on the Air Force team, this is your basic guide to the Air Force Core Values. The Core Values are much more than minimum standards. They remind us what it takes to get the mission done. They inspire us to do our very best at all times. They are the common bond among all comrades in arms, and they are the glue that unifies the force and ties us to the great warriors and public servants of the past. Free Airline Tickets for Wounded/Sick Military Heros Although the Defense Department provides a travel entitlement for service members and their families in serious medical emergencies, the Fisher House Foundation is hoping to help those service members and families not covered under the rule. Free airline tickets are available to service members undergoing treatment, as either an in- or outpatient at military and VA medical facilities as a result of their service in Iraq, Afghanistan and the surrounding area. Getting a Copy of Your Military Records The National Personnel Records Center, Military Personnel Records (NPRC-MPR), in St. Louis, MO, is the repository of millions of military personnel, health, and medical records of discharged and deceased veterans of all services during the 20th century. Here's how to request a copy of military records on file at the Center. Military Folks and Politics As we enter a new presidential race, I've been receiving more and more questions about what military members are allowed and not allowed to do when it comes to politics. Federal Law (Titles 10, 2, and 18, United States Code), Department of Defense (DOD) Directives, and specific military regulations strictly limit a military active duty person's participation in partisan political activities. Army Testing New Basic Training Schedule Recruits who attend Army Basic Training at Fort Benning, GA, will be part of an Army test which intensifies the current basic training schedule. Depending on which test group they are selected for, training in the field will increase from the current three days to either 10 days or 23 days. The length of basic training, however, is not changing. Concurrent Receipt As part of the FY 2004 Military Authorization Act, Congress has acted to phase out "concurrent receipt" for military retirees, with 50 percent or more disability, entitled to both retired pay and VA disability Pay. Here's how the phase out schedule is going to be implemented.
