The Air Force has released its re-enlistment bonus rates for FY 2010 and it's good news. The Air Force has increased bonus amounts in 35 AFSCs (jobs), and added 10 AFSCs to the list. However, bonuses went down in 32 jobs, and 2 AFSCs fell off the list.

This is great! The Air Force is demonstrating a “smarter-not-harder” approach to maintaining a professional force. Rather than toss money at any-and-all who wish to re-up, thus promoting the vast pool of deadwood within the ranks, the Air Force appears to be adopting a competetive component, something which is, sadly, completely lacking in the personnel affairs of too many services. Way to go, Air Force…this Ole Has-Been Army NCO may come around to respecting you yet!
