Air Force Desperately Needs More Tactical Air Command & Control Personnel

By , About.com GuideOctober 23, 2009

Follow me on:

Air Force TACCs spend most of their careers assigned to Army combat units. Their job is to provide laison between the Army and Air Force, and Air Force pilots to coordinate air strikes in support of Army ground combat missions.

The Air Force is experiencing a signficant shortage of TACCs. In fiscal 2005, there were 622 controllers in the service. By fiscal 2013, the Air Force estimates they will need 1,056 controllers to meet Army needs, a 70 percent increase.

Meaning what for the Air Force? Does this mean they would be willing to take prior service members for this position? What would they be willing to waive especially for prior service Air Force?

They already take prior service to do special forces jobs. Contact your local recruiter…

Eloia, Last I heard there was NO Female Special Forces. At least in the ARMY. This has nothing to do with a Females ability to perform, rather the physical Anatomy of a women’s reproductive system does not allow some of the required mission terrains, ie, Swamps=infection, or the extreme lack of sanitary options while on a mission of that caliber. I dont need to explain that a Female needs to have much more hygiene to keep themselves safe from infections than men. This was done from a Medical stand point.
STEVE….everyone knows that the Airforce looks down upon other service members. They do not like to higher previous Army/ Marines. If they did, the Airforce might actually be able to pass a PT test.
