Tricare Hospitalization Fees Increase for Retirees

By , About.com GuideOctober 5, 2009

Follow me on:

Defense health officials have announced a "small" fee increase for military retirees under age 65, who use Tricare standard for hospitalization costs. The increase takes effect on Oct 1.

Families of active duty members who use Tricare standard for civilian hospital stays will see an increase in their daily charge, from $15.65 a day to $16.30, or $25 per admission, whichever is greater. About three years ago Congress froze the rates and later extended the freeze to September 30, 2009. Because Congress and the Obama administration has not taken any action to extend the freeze past September 30, the new rates have taken effect.

But the cost-of-living isnt going up as the government says!! Isn’t this one of the costs of staying alive? Maybe not what they look at but you can bet it will weigh heavily on the retirees cost to live.

‘As a 1964 U.S. Army length of service military retiree who was BETRAYED along with 432,000 cohorts on future retired pay, and s the loss of my ‘EARNED,’ under the law, health care I don’t know why these cry babies are now complaining. They all enlisted or took a commission for; pay, travel, adventure, schooling, citizenship and high retirement without concern for what this deceitful nation did to their predecssors. wdgray@shawneelink.net
