Show Your Pride -- Wear Your Medals on July 4

Sunday June 29, 2008

Beginning in 2006, the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has asked all veterans to wear their earned medals on Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day. As we celebrate our nation's independence, I join with the VA and major veterans service organizations to encourage veterans to show their pride and patriotism by wearing your medals on July 4, whether attending a patriotic event, or just relaxing with friends and family. I'll most certainly be wearing mine. Your medals tell stories of service, sacrifice, bravery, and accomplishment. Sharing them with family, friends, and the public on patriotic holidays allows you to share your valuable stories, and helps teach America's youth the true meaning of citizenship and freedom.

Veterans may be eligible for replacement medals from their military service. Additionally, retirees can purchase medals on base, at military clothing sales stores, and others may purchase replacement medals from several authorized retailers.

I have been informed that the Bronze Star Metal was authorized for all those who earned the Combat Infantry Badge or the Combat Medical Badge, according to Army Regulation 600-8-2. Military Awards. How do I go about getting award.
