Lowes & Home Depot Offer July 4 Discount

By June 29, 2008

Follow me on:

Once again this year, two national home-improvement retailers -- Lowes & Home Depot are offering 10 percent discounts to active-duty personnel, reservists, retirees, honorably discharged veterans and their immediate families. Both companies have offered the holiday discounts to military personnel and family members for the last several years.

The Lowes discount runs from now until July 7 for purchases up to $5,000. The Home Depot program runs from July 3 to July 6, for purchases up to $2,000. Check with your local store for complete details.

I bought a mower yesterday at the Home Depot and the cashier had no knowledge of this promotion. She called “someone” and still no discount!
After reading this, I’m going back and asking to talk to a manager.
FYI. Neither Home Depot nor Lowes mention any of this on their websites (including press releases). Curious.

I did not receive a press release about this from Home Depot, but I took the information from an Army Times article (see: http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/06/military_july4_discounts_062708w/).

I *did* receive a press release from Lowes about their program. The contact information given in the press release is Karen Cobb, 704-758-3504, Karen.s.cobb@lowes.com.

The press release states:

“MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Lowe’s Companies, Inc. announced today it will offer all active, reserve, honorably discharged, and retired military personnel and their immediate family members a 10 percent discount on in-store purchases made during the July 4th – Independence Day holiday. The discount is available June 26 – July 7.

The discount is available on in-stock and special order purchases up to $5,000. To qualify, individuals must present a valid military ID or other proof of service. Excluded from the discount are sales via Lowes.com, previous sales, and purchases of services or gift cards. The offer is not redeemable for cash and is nontransferable.

In addition to offering military discounts throughout the year, Lowe’s has extended benefits for its employees serving in the military and offers employment opportunities to military personnel after their military service has ended.”
